This co-authored book emerged from a transnational research project in which scholars from Jamia Millia Islamia (New Delhi), the JMU Würzburg, and the University of Zurich collaborated to evolve new multilogical perspectives on what is usually referred to as globalization. The book makes a case for a PHENOMENOLOGY OF GLOBALIZATION that pays particular attention to the transformation of locally situated and individually experienced socioeconomic terrains, everyday practices, and cultures of knowledge.
My chapter “Writing Older Delhis: Traditional Structures of Feelings and Postcolonial Ruptures” is the exploration of the urban space and life as a socio-sensorial terrain in fictional and non-fictional writings on Old Delhi –I examine fictional writings by Ahmad Ali, Khushwant Singh and Anita Desai, poetry of Agha Shahid Ali and current stage performance of Mushairas in prominent cultural events of Delhi to underscore ruptures and continuities in Delhi’s transformation into Global City.
